Operational transformation for the AI era

Better operations as AI changes how work gets done

Better work. Clearer decisions.
Appropriate use of technology.

Capability ≠ Authority

What a system can do is not the same as what it should be authorised to do.

Kelward helps organisations redesign the operating system around people, process, decisions, information and technology.

◎

Operating model & process

Understanding how work actually flows today, where friction exists, and how operating models and processes need to change.

◇

Decision authority & accountability

Clarifying who or what may recommend, decide, approve, execute and review, and where accountability ultimately sits.

◉

AI-enabled operations

Determining where rules, automation, AI and human judgement should sit within the operating system to improve performance.

▱

Information & evidence flows

Designing how information moves, where it is held, how decisions are supported and what evidence needs to be retained.

⌁

Assurance & implementation

Ensuring new ways of working are operationally credible, governable, auditable and capable of being implemented in practice.

Start with the operation, not the technology.

Kelward helps organisations redesign how work gets done, decisions get made and technology gets used as AI becomes part of the operating environment.

We work across process, information, roles, decision authority, technology and controls to understand how an organisation operates today, where AI and automation can genuinely improve performance, and what needs to change for those capabilities to be used effectively.

The objective is not more AI. It is better operations.

Our work spans operational transformation, AI-enabled operating models, decision authority, human-AI teaming and assurance. In consequential environments, these disciplines need to be considered together rather than as separate technical, governance or organisational problems.

Capability ≠ Authority. What a system can do is not the same as what it should be authorised to do. Kelward explicitly considers authority, accountability, controls and evidence as part of the design of AI-enabled operating systems.

Kelward is the consulting and operational transformation capability of Lean Strategy Pty Ltd, a 100% Australian-owned professional services company. Lean Strategy has previously contracted to the Australian Department of Defence through the Defence Support Services Panel, with approximately seven years of consulting delivery into Defence.

Kelward works independently of particular technology platforms and is suited to organisations operating in complex, regulated, sovereign or security-sensitive environments.

Better operations through clearer work, better decisions and appropriate use of technology.
