Human-AI decision systems

Human-AI decision systems for consequential environments

Clarity in authority. Confidence in decisions.
Better operations.

Capability ≠ Authority

AI capability does not automatically determine what an AI system should be authorised to do.

Kelward works at the intersection of AI assurance, human factors, governance and complex operations.

Decision authority & accountability

Helping organisations determine what decisions AI systems may make, what remains with humans, and why.

AI assurance & operational acceptance

Building the evidence and confidence required to accept AI-enabled systems in practice.

Human-AI teaming

Designing how people and AI work together effectively in complex, high-consequence environments.

Integration of evidence

Bringing together technical, human-factors and governance evidence to support defensible decisions about authority.

Complex & high-consequence environments

Focus on Defence and government, and other domains where decisions have real-world impact.

Capability ≠ Authority.

AI capability does not automatically confer authority. As AI becomes part of operational decision-making, organisations need clarity on authority, accountability and the evidence that justifies it.

Kelward supports organisations to navigate that complexity—helping them adopt AI-enabled decision systems that are trusted, responsible and operationally effective.

The work combines deep experience in Defence, aerospace and complex operations with current study and research in Artificial Intelligence.

The goal is simple: better operations through clear authority.
